Rotten Man 08:14
Well there's bags under my eyes Burn marks on my skin But it comes as no suprise To a Rotten Man Rotten Man Couldn't give a good goddamn And ever since then, Ain't seen no friends I've been longing, I've been crying I've been sleeping, I've been dying Still ain't found no one ever, no one When the poison starts seeping And the ganglia weeping You feel it in your plexus When the Rotten Man come creeping But this comes as no suprise To a Rotten Man Rotten Man Couldn't give a good goddamn Oh no, baby I don't think you know just how Rotten I am Do you know the Rotten Man? From Rotterdam? Rotten Man Couldn't give a good goddamn about how you made me who I am. Motherfuckers, you know it is what it is Go back to my..little place where I can see what I be I didn't choose, I didn't try To make a life of how I want to die When the feelings cease to feel, You begin to cease what is real So when you hear the floorboard creaking Then you'll know just what to be seeking, Oh caper baby

Hey Mack, you know that he ain't ever coming back But hey, you still got me anyway. I know, that ain't much, but so? Tell me about it You got something on your mind, no doubt about it Oh Some may feel no criticism can be made of pure religious faith. That may be true, but it's the folly of the faith. In dogmatic authority...that is at issue, really. And needs only the memory of political faiths From liberal laissez-faire to Marxist determinism.

Well the fire, it needs a-stoking And the piper needs a token ("And the pipe, it needs a-toking") And it's my time to spark the night I feel it when I see it rise Up above my head so high Up above my head Up above my head Ain't no sense in coming out Up above my head Once you've made it past getting in Up above my head so high Welcome back to weary times The trails of dreary hearts and eyes The fractured skulls of damaged minds They felt it when they saw it rise Up above my head Up above my head Up above my head Ain't no sense in coming out Up above my head Once you've made it past getting in Up above my head so high Ooo rising Oooo rising Oooooo rising Ooooooooo rising Way down Up above my head Up above my head Up above my head

Death, and sandals, and hatred. It's a bright line I find between me and the dream. But sometimes I get it right. Let's not intend to be selfish, We are all beautiful human beings If you jive, come and sing with me. You'll find the rights you try to find Refined behind some veal and swine. Holding the signs that advertise and Tantalize and raise the standards of his drothers. Flying down upon the crown of my demon turtle A demon's just as glad to be As free as any other entity. An aspect just as subtle As the Dream. You'll find the rights you try to find Refined behind some veal and swine. Holding the signs that advertise and Tantalize and raise the standards of his drothers Motherfuckers.

Rotten Chant 01:31
Eight slaps to the face, you dirty boy Play around with that fire you'll be destroyed All you can learn to do is kick the can Till your standing in the mirror with the ROTTEN MAN A rotten rotten rotten rotten rotten man Keep a close ear to the queer sneering jeering in your breast, boy Take a step beyond your fine lines and rejoice It's a ragged situation; got you learning through your troubles with the sinners Sowing hatred and the kingdom's burn to rubble Finnancial situation's like a place where people struggle with mushrooms in the afternoon. What a strange thing to do. That's what I'm saying to you, Stew in your scuba stew Swooning in the courtyard Wondering if the boneyard is coming down

It's time somebody tell me and all of you It's time you heard the godawful truth Don't be misled by what some suit said Who'll take you to the grave or take you to bed If you won't let me in, that's alright...I guess I think I'm already in It's your call; Whose who? Yeah, I don't get much sunlight. It's kind of hard when I'm here. And I don't got no sage advice I can't be relied on like you But when I feel it kick in, that's when I turn to you That man, he's a friend, but I guess you know him, too Better do it while I can, while I'm still a child, too Say "I don't know where you are" Just don't check... And all these lies that I've been told I took to heart And what you say is together Is still apart And as you're standing at your door But I can't hear you now Oh I'm...

Even, Even when I'm fallen Even when I'm fallen You are next to me Oh Don't ever Resist the inner-child within You will see That you are You're just the water underneath We are just the water The water underneath Just the water, just the water Underneath it all All (indistinguishable dialogue*) Will some bless Temptress El perro este There is time for us But it is not know, I guess

about

care-free times that turned dark quick
6 of the 9 Recorded in Bandon, OR between Oct.-Nov '13,
3 recorded in Eugene, OR between Jan-Apr. '14

This's a weird and special one for me. To hear it now I hear the point in which a 19 year old comes down crashing from a post-graduation haze of smoke and psychedelics, moving to a new town (and then having to move back home after making one too many small mistakes), to the expense of growing up and integrating with the straight world. And realize all of my know-it-all histrionics from teen years don't mean shit to the bills. It would take a few years to get all that even sorta figured out. But for a minute in 2014 I seemed determined to reach the countercultural heights I had studied to the best of what ever I could conjure, naivete and all.

For the "band" it also represented one step further towards an actual style and identity. The first one made with the name and a vague concept in mind. The idea from the get-go was a similar kitchen-sink approach but purposefully with more bite and distortion. Basically two or three finished songs, 3 songs born out of larger improvs, and the rest that are kinda both. The loose concept being that each track presents a different snapshot into the life and home of a grungey, loathesome, drug-addled and lonely individual. An exaggerated depiction of my life at the time. My best friend and most frequent collaborator in those days, Johann, had receded further from having a committed role in the group (but is prominent on 5 out these 9 songs), which was already itinerant given the loose nature in which the group had formed. I had failed to (among a lotta other things) get a proper line-up going when I first moved to Eugene, but Johann would come up every few weeks or so, and we'd try a new psychedlic drug every other night and attempt to get it on recording. "Victory" and "Revelettes" were the best fruits from these slapdash efforts.

So yea, this's that drug music. That scary, bad-trip-alone music. That ghosts-in-the-stagnant-smoke-filled-house, k-hole paranoia, exhausted-but-can't-sleep music. True Coming-of-age music.
